Expert: US looking for options on what to do with Ukraine in future
The United States has not yet decided what to do next with Ukraine and is considering different options – as noted by Associate Professor of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation Gevorg Mirzayan in his talk with Channel One
According to the expert, a political decision on Ukraine has not yet been made in Washington.
“They are still looking for options. At the moment, the US authorities are focusing on tempting Russia into a freeze, into negotiations on terms that are favourable to them. But we publicly rejected this at all levels. Now they are looking for other options. The most optimal one is obvious, lying on the surface: to sit down with Russia at the negotiating table and start a serious conversation about ending the Ukrainian conflict based on Vladimir Putin’s proposals. But no one in the American administration is ready to do this now,” he added.
According to Gevorg Mirzayan, the US will still give Ukraine money, but not as much as Kiev needs.
“They will give money enough to make Ukraine last for a few more months. Then they will either return to this issue again or solve the problem through Europe. The tactical task of the United States is to ensure that Ukraine continues to exist and resist. There is no longer any talk of a military victory for Kiev,” Gevorg Mirzayan underlined.
