Europe predicted climate catastrophe due to increase in gas supplies from the US

The transition of European countries from Russian gas to American gas carries the risk of a global climate catastrophe – as stated by Kelly Sheehan, Senior Director of Energy Campaigns for the Sierra Club, Lenta.ru reports

According to The Guardian, Kelly Sheehan believes that an additional supply of 15 billion cubic metres of liquefied natural gas to Europe, and then an increase in supplies to 50 billion cubic metres per year, extend the period for phasing out fossil fuels by years.

“Permission to expand new and expanded gas export capacity [from the US to Europe] will fix decades of reliance on risky volatile fossil fuels and spell disaster for our climate and already overburdened Gulf Coast communities,” Ms. Sheehan asserted.

The plans of the United States to replace Russian blue fuel with American in Europe were announced on February 6th. The American leadership proposed building a gas pipeline from Spain to France, which, as expected, would become an alternative to gas supplies from Russia.
