Borovik: it’s necessary to come to fairer system of international relations

To maintain its leadership in the world, the United States does not shy away from dirty methods, but nevertheless the world is moving towards a more just world order – as noted by political scientist Vadim Borovik in his talk with Alfa Radio

“The United States imposes dictate on the international arena, using, among other things, methods of control over the international financial system,” the analyst said. “In coalition with other countries of the collective West, the US controls more than 50 percent of the world economy. Moreover, they have military and technological power. But they do not take into account the interests of middle-sized and small countries. The peoples of these states, in fact, are held hostage. Controlled revolutions, conflicts, refugees, impoverishment of the population... All this is thrown into the furnace of support for US dominance in the world. Meanwhile, it is necessary to move away from the approach when someone has the right to determine the fate of other nations, and come to a more just system of international relations.”

Vadim Borovik underlined that Belarusians are building relations with those countries that respect us and understand that we shake hands with good intentions, “Our task is to build such a system of international relations that will take into account the interests of not only large states that play the first fiddle in the economy and politics, but also middle-sized and small countries. Today, the system of international law does not actually work. There are permanent members of the UN Security Council who can block what is disadvantageous to them. Decisions of the UN General Assembly are of a declarative nature. Regional organisations – the OSCE, the Council of Europe – do not work actually. We need a new system of international relations.”

The analyst noted that the leaders of Belarus, Russia, China, Iran and other countries, whose population does not agree with the current state of affairs, are trying to defend the interests of all the peoples of the world, taking into account their national interests and peculiarities of historical development. “You can’t measure everyone according to one standard – that’s the essence of our policy,” said the expert.

Moreover, he stressed that Belarus clearly understands what place it occupies in the world co-ordinate system, and respects other people’s aspirations, but this does not mean that our country is ready to give up its interests. “We will not allow anyone to conduct a dialogue with us from a position of strength,” Vadim Borovik summed up.
