Opinion: there is no more hegemony of global West

Earlier, the European Union could be called a junior partner of the United States, but it is now a satellite of Washington – as noted by political expert Aleksandr Shpakovsky in his talk with Alfa Radio

Not long ago, French President Emmanuel Macron warned of the ‘risk of weakening Europe and the West’ in an international context in which competition between the powers is on the rise. As noted by Mr. Shpakovsky, the French leader was too late with those statements.

“Europe and the West have already weakened, and the very fact of a military response to their actions to gradually advance their infrastructure, including military one, to the borders of Russia suggests that no one is afraid of them anymore. Different countries of the world – and Russia has acted as a kind of icebreaker here – will defend their own interests. There is no more hegemony of the global West, and this is a fact. Today, the world order is being challenged: the West wants to maintain its dominant position, a number of other states are in favour of a multipolar world, BRICS and SCO are strengthening," the political expert explained.

Mr. Shpakovsky urged to pay attention to the relations within the global West itself, noting that it was earlier possible to say that the European Union was a junior partner of the United States. “Actually, a junior partner has the right to speak. At present, we observe a relationship between a suzerain and a vassal or even a satellite. The European Union, including France, thanks to Macron’s ‘skilful’ leadership, has gradually transformed into a satellite of the United States. Just think about it: the largest industrial sabotage in the history of mankind has taken place. The Biden administration – and everyone in the West understands this – ordered its special services to blow up the Nord Stream, and that step brought the German industry to its knees," he said.

According to the expert, if Germany would continue to receive cheap Russian energy resources, it would have serious opportunities for a breakthrough. “In fact, Americans have implemented a strategy of ‘destroying those who are near so that to look stronger against their background’. By subjugating Europe, the United States is creating conditions for a scientific and industrial revolution at home. It is questionable whether it will be implemented or not. Maybe China will get ahead of it in this regard," Mr. Shpakovsky added.
