Gaidukevich: sanctions have made us stronger

The Head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, promised new EU sanctions against Belarus for its ‘role in the conflict in Ukraine’. Deputy of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly Oleg Gaidukevich, commenting on this news during his talk with Alfa Radio, said that by not stopping the sanctions war, the European Union is making things worse for itself, while Belarus and Russia, on the contrary, are becoming stronger.

According to the deputy, the moods to change the policy in this regard are becoming stronger in Europe. But Washington says to continue – and the EU countries, under the influence of the United States, are taking steps to their own detriment.

“Europe is collapsing, and they are announcing new sanctions,” the parliamentarian said. “Let it be so. Don’t let us go anywhere. We will develop our own productions faster. We don’t need them. They should be thanked. They are destroying themselves by imposing sanctions on those at whose expense they lived. You, Europeans, built all your well-being at the expense of the collapse of the USSR. If the Soviet Union had not collapsed, you would have nothing. For thirty years you have been alluring the best minds, cheap resources and building your garden, but it was growing at our expense. It won’t happen anymore. Sanctions have made us stronger. And there will be no going back. We will continue to develop the industry, relying on our own, and set up new competitive enterprises. Belarus and Russia turned to the Middle East, to Asia. Do you [EU countries] think that you are the whole world? No, you are only part of the world. You have lived off the colonies for a long time.”

The parliamentarian noted that the political elites of the EU states will be overthrown by the Europeans, who want a normal life and good relations with Russia and Belarus. “Europe will not be strong until it establishes relations with us and becomes independent, until it starts to live by its own mind,” Oleg Gaidukevich added.

“Belarus is doing everything for the world, and they are imposing sanctions on us. The logic is easy to understand. All sanctions are imposed against Belarus for only one thing: because it is forbidden to be friends with Russia. They became so insolent that they already have a trend in politics. It is forbidden to be friends with Russia. It’s forbidden to be friends with China, with Iran. And who are you to tell Belarus who we should be friends with? Are you some kind of god? You are ordinary people. It is our right to build the unions we want,” summed up the deputy of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly.
