Expert: Belarus avoids escalation, but ready to respond to any threat

6 July, 17:04

The West is actively using pressure tactics on Russia's allies, and Belarus is one of its main targets – as stated by Colonel Andrei Bogodel, the Deputy Head of the Department for Educational and Scientific Work – Head of the Educational and Methodology Department of the Faculty of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Military Academy of Belarus, in his talk with SB TV, sb.by reports

As noted by the expert, the West wants to form the global opinion that Russia is supposedly in political isolation, and therefore it is primarily hitting Russia's allies. “Venezuela, Syria, Iran… Now, the Western centres of power are beginning to eye at Cuba,” he said. “They also do not intend to leave Belarus, which is part of the Union State with Russia, in peace. Westerners want to drag our republic into the millstones of war in order to slowly destroy its economy, and hence the UAV attack on a bus with children in the Bryansk Region. They attacked and waited to see how Belarus will react, what Russia will do, and what the allies and the UN will say. Sadly, many of our partners showed no reaction at all, but fortunately, the CIS and the CSTO publicly condemned Kiev's actions, and the UN Security Council held a meeting during which Belarus' Permanent Representative to the world organisation, Valentin Rybakov, called a spade a spade.”

Mr. Bogodel drew attention to the fact that Kiev speaks very harshly against Minsk and, at the suggestion of the Western centres, declares its readiness to strike at Belarus, including its critical infrastructure facilities.

“For its part, Belarus is doing everything to avoid escalation, and it is calling for dialogue. At the same time, our Foreign Ministry clearly stated that if someone encroaches on our sovereignty, we will respond with all the potential available to us, and our allies, including Russia and China, will not stand aside if such a situation emerges. The West should bear this in mind,” the expert concluded.
