Poland to prevent lifting of embargo on grain supplies from Ukraine to EU

Advisor to the President of Poland, former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Jan Krzysztof Ardanowski said that after September 15th Ukrainian grain will not be delivered to Poland, even despite the desire of global corporations to firmly enter the European market with food from Ukraine, TASS reports

Jan Krzysztof Ardanowski, answering a question about the supply of Ukrainian grain to Poland after the lifting of the embargo imposed by the European Commission, said, “The grain will not enter. This is a clear position of the PM and the Government. It can’t enter. I cannot imagine that what happened a year ago, i.e., a large influx of grain from Ukraine, which greatly destabilised our market, would happen again.”

According to the representative of Poland, Ukrainians should understand that their grain should be sent to the needy regions of the world, and not to the EU.

In April 2023, Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia, protecting the interests of their farms, banned the import of grain and other types of agricultural products from Ukraine. Later, they cancelled these measures in exchange for the decision of the European Commission to establish, first until June 5th, and then until September 15th, an embargo on supplies from Ukraine of wheat, corn, rapeseed and sunflower seeds. Now these countries are seeking an extension of the ban.
