Opinion: NATO, EU set course for world war

The European Union and the North Atlantic Alliance signed the third joint declaration on co-operation, and political expert Aleksei Belyaev explained how this move should be perceived

In his talk with Alfa Radio, the expert primarily stressed that – although NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg is talking about the depletion of the alliance's and the EU's military reserves – Kiev will continue receiving support. The military bloc is even ready to turn a blind eye to the volumes of weapons it possesses.

“The declaration confirms what has been clear and understandable to everyone for a long time: NATO (as military alliance) and Europe (as part of it) have set a course for the destruction of Ukraine, since NATO's support with weapons is simply prolonging the hostilities, while leading to even greater destruction in this country. The desire of the West to fight to the last Ukrainian, by the hands of Ukrainians, is understandable. Meanwhile, it is not yet clear how Ukrainian citizens – who have long realised that they are being used as consumables – need to act,” Mr. Belyaev said.

According to the expert, the NATO-EU declaration demonstrates that no negotiations are viewed as possible right now or in the mid-term, among other things. “The North Atlantic Alliance has dropped all masks. Though Turkiye has not yet agreed, and Sweden and Finland are not yet NATO members, these countries’ troops are already conducting joint exercises with NATO. This means they are actually already integrated into the bloc. A formal issue of their inclusion remains – so that they can take part in the voting. NATO and the European Union have set a course for a world war, and peace is out of the question now. A fight against Russia through Ukraine is going on,” he added.

The West is waging a geopolitical struggle. Moreover, the events in Ukraine enable large companies engaged in production of weapons to increase their incomes. “Given that the entire European political elite is more or less tied up with the major industrial players, it is clear that they are now engaged into money distribution. Europe was discussing the need to create its own armed forces for a long time, but it has refused the idea by now. I think this is a great disadvantage of Europe, since NATO is supervised by the United States. Americans have defended their interests, while Europe is losing its military subjectivity: it will help US monopolies make money. Production of weapons, an increase in military budgets and expenditures will become another burden for Europeans, who have recently faced numerous challenges – such as inflation, the departure of their own manufacturers, and so on,” Mr. Belyaev explained.

“In the long term, this does not bode well. Nevertheless, militarisation continues. Europeans are testing their weapons on the battlefield, looking at the results and deciding on what needs modernisation – so that to replenish and leave for themselves the most modern weapons. They need this to try to destroy their geopolitical opponents when time comes,” the expert concluded.
