Media: Iran close to developing nuclear weapons

The Washington Post reported that Iran is closer than ever to building nuclear weapons because of the US withdrawal from the nuclear deal in 2018, TASS reports

The publication's sources claim that Tehran ‘has enough reserves of highly enriched uranium for at least three atomic bombs, the creation of which can take from a few days to a few weeks’. It is reported that it may take two years or even more to create a warhead for a missile based on a primitive nuclear bomb.

It is noted that Iran is currently accumulating the necessary funds to create atomic weapons, but it has not taken any obvious steps towards this goal so far. American officials noted that Tehran has recently sought to dilute a certain percentage of its enriched uranium in order to avoid an escalation of the conflict with the West. However, as stated in the documents examined by the newspaper, the country's production of enriched uranium is proceeding at a record pace. At the same time, the publication emphasises that it is unknown whether Iran will eventually decide to develop a nuclear bomb.
