Investigative Committee classifies Poles’ actions as crime against peace

The Investigative Committee of Belarus has qualified the Polish security forces’ actions as a crime against peace, BelTA reports

An operational investigations group continues working at the scene of the incident on the Belarusian-Polish border near the Bruzgi checkpoint and directly on its territory.

As reported by the Committee, at night, investigators – jointly with the Grodno Region specialists of the State Forensic Examination Committee – conducted an inspection. As a result of it, numerous objects were detected in places where special means were used by the Polish side, namely tear-gas, water cannons, stun grenades. Among them were fragments of metal and polymer objects from ammunition, vegetation layers and soil on which traces of toxic and irritating substances remained. Expert studies of all the discovered objects will follow – including explosive, ballistic, forensic biological, physico-chemical and fingerprinting. Victims and witnesses are being interrogated, video recordings dealing with the use of special means by the Polish side have been collected and examined.

The scene of the incident is being additionally examined during daytime, while investigative and procedural actions with those who have sought medical help due to exposure to toxic substances continue.

The Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case in line with Article 128 of the Criminal Code (Crimes against peace. Mass acts of violence due to race and ethnicity).
