8th Gomel Economic Forum brought together participants from Belarus and 15 countries of the world

Gomel has gathered the existing and potential foreign partners at the regional economic forum, and its results are stunning: 107 signed documents worth $2 billion 600 million and 1,000 new jobs in the regional centre and districts

The 8th Gomel Economic Forum has once again become not only a meeting place for government and business, but also a kind of institution for the integration of the Gomel Region into the world economy. The economic potential of the region unites now more than 200 large and medium-sized enterprises. Annually, 1.9m tonnes of oil are produced and 15m tonnes of oil are processed in the region. 40m square metres of glass, 3m tonnes of steel, 550 thousand tonnes of salt, 400 thousand tonnes of pulp and 3 thousand combines are produced.

The Chairman of the Gomel Regional Executive Committee, Ivan Krupko, noted that the economic forum is a constructive platform for developing proposals for mutually beneficial co-operation, exchange of experience, and generation of new ideas, “I am sure that the forum will lay a solid foundation for mutually beneficial co-operation, which will inevitably prevail over artificial barriers, the current political situation and will bring only positive results to all of us. The Gomel Region is open for business interaction cooperation. Our region is rich in natural resources, has high industrial, human and scientific potential."

The geography of the event is growing. A year earlier, ambassadors, advisers and trade representatives from 12 countries gathered in the city. At the current forum, the number of participating countries has grown to sixteen, more than 80 objects have been offered for investment (mostly in the real sector of the economy).
