Historian: Belarus is unique state

Belarus is unique, and this is very clearly seen in the examples of architectural sovereignty and social justice policy – as noted by the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the House of Representatives, Doctor of Historical Sciences Igor Marzalyuk, in his talk with the ONT TV channel

Mr. Marzalyuk stressed that Belarus is a unique state, “Where else have you seen such a level of social guarantees and subsidies? The principle of social justice – often mentioned by Belarus’ President for reason – functions in our country. I remember the speech of our young Belarusian leader Aleksandr Lukashenko in 1994 or 1995. He spoke about three most important aspects: exports, food and housing. We were then listening to him in Mogilev. Aleksandr Lukashenko said that we would build a lot, including housing. While listening to him, I did not believe: everything was in a great decline in 1994. However, our country started regaining balance – importantly, not using the money of grandad Soros or anyone else, but the funds of the Belarusian state.”

The historian also drew attention to the fact that Belarus has its own real architectural sovereignty, “Thanks to Aleksandr Lukashenko, we have restored so many iconic monuments of Belarusian architecture of various confessions (which we could not do in the well-fed Soviet years) – raising them from the ruins. No one could imagine this would happen. In fact, all the landmark monuments and town halls have been restored – including the castles in Mir, Nesvizh and Grodno. Our Castles of Belarus programme is truly unique. It means a huge investment in strengthening our national identity, the cultural matrix and love for Belarus.”
