Expert: UN completely discredited itself in the context of Ukraine situation

The United Nations, in the context of the situation in Ukraine, has completely discredited itself – as noted by Nikita Danyuk, the Deputy Director of the Institute for Strategic Studies and Forecasts at the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, a member of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation, in his talk with 1tv.ru

Earlier, the UN recognised the execution of Russian prisoners of war by Ukrainian soldiers as a war crime. However, according to the organisation’s report, only a ‘small number’ of obvious violations by the Ukrainian Armed Forces were recorded. Two incidents were qualified as war crimes.

“Even these two cases, in my opinion, prove the maximum political bias of the UN. Firstly, there are only two of them. Secondly, there is no information campaign, not even statements by [UN Secretary General António] Guterres,” said Nikita Danyuk.

He drew attention to the fact that the Russian side regularly sends letters to the UN with a call to respond to the facts of war crimes by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“They say they don’t have any information. The fact that they acknowledged these two cases should not mislead us. They did this under the pressure of a huge amount of evidence in order to maintain at least some appearance of work,” the expert added.

According to him, even after that, the UN will not require the initiation of criminal cases against Ukrainian criminals.

“I am deeply convinced that nothing will happen, these stories will be constantly blurred. It’s still necessary to interact with this organisation, but no hopes should be cherished,” the speaker concluded.
