Expert: stupid European politicians succumbed to US influence and took burden of sanctions upon themselves

In his talk with Alfa Radio, Aleksei Avdonin, an expert of the Belarusian Institute for Strategic Studies, speculated on the stupidity of European politicians who killed their own economy by imposing anti-Russian sanctions

Winter has come, and energy consumption is growing. Therefore, Europe comes to mind: in February 2022 (when the special military operation in Ukraine began), it imposed sanctions against Russia and stopped buying energy resources from it. As a result, the EU's monthly gas import costs have since increased to an average of 15.2bn Euros. Over twenty months, the total overpayment for fuel has reached a staggering 185bn Euros – becoming the most striking example of how sanctions actually work.

“This is an example of how the stupid head of European politicians works,” the expert noted. “They succumbed to American influence and took the entire burden of sanctions upon themselves. As a result, they completely wrecked all their enterprises and the economy. Just imagine these expenses, and where they are going. Of course, [they are included] into the cost of production. No one needs European products with such prices anymore. Both Americans and Brits are now clapping their hands and saying: ‘It’s great that you are killing your economy, your enterprises. They are going bankrupt, and now European banks will also start going bankrupt. That’s wonderful! We will further buy these bankrupt assets for next to nothing’.”

Mr. Avdonin is confident that this is an ideal situation for those in the US and the UK. “How can Europeans respond to this? They are still an occupied territory. They are not smart enough, they are walking in the same fairway. Some corporate circles in Europe, which own these corporations and banks, are trying to reach out to politicians, to say that they need to put up with both Belarus and Russia. Somewhere we see some attempts in the form of completely new political leaders who are not focused on European integration. However, this is a very difficult process. Americans are well aware of what is happening in Europe, and, of course, they are trying to stop this trend associated with the strengthening of Europe. We will advise them to come to their senses, turn their heating batteries on and come to our country to study,” he said.
