Expert: American diplomacy is deteriorating
The United States is trying to declare totalitarian all the leaders with whose point of view it disagrees, although this country is actually the key dictator itself – as noted by the Dean of the Journalism Department at the Belarusian State University, Aleksei Belyaev, in his talk with Alfa Radio
The US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, paid a visit to China on June 18th-19th, and the media later reported that American President Joe Biden equated his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping with a dictator in one of his speeches. The Chinese Foreign Ministry has already responded to Mr. Biden's statement, pointing out the unethical and irresponsible nature of such behaviour.
“We have been observing the deterioration of American diplomacy for a long time already,” Mr. Belyaev said. “The American diplomacy, with its star disease, has ceased to understand what is happening in reality. The personal factor also plays a serious role. The President [of the United States] has long lost the opportunity to lead a normal political life due to his physical and mental health. Such a leader, in his own words, levels the actions of American diplomats.”
Meanwhile, as noted by the expert, Mr. Biden voiced what all American diplomats actually keep in mind, “If they go somewhere and smile at someone there, if they offer supposedly good variants for the development of events, friendship or support, then you need in no case to believe them. Whatever they think of you will break through anyway. It has long been clear that the White House and all this Washington camarilla perceive China as a rival, they are openly declaring that. The diplomatic relations between China and the United States are at a very low level now. There has not been such a demonstrative unwillingness to communicate with the US President for a long time.”
Mr. Belyaev also drew attention to some humiliating protocol moments when Antony Blinken was being met. Actually, he was supposed to be welcomed by at least an equal-ranking Chinese minister, but that did not happen. The expert commented, “On the part of China, this is a demonstration of unwillingness to have serious business with the United States. We see what kind of policy the United States is pursuing towards China. On the one hand, it is trying to strangle China in the arms of its military anaconda by scattering military bases at its borders, setting up their closest neighbours against the PRC, and doing absolutely provocative things related to Taiwan. At the same time, support for the one-China policy is declared at the diplomatic level. How can this be combined? We see how much American diplomacy has been screwed up, when words contradict actions.”
According to him, everyone – with whom Washington does not agree, whom the United States considers competitors and is afraid of – is declared to be totalitarian leaders and dictators. “Although the US is the key dictator on the planet – imposing its own will and trying to erase the desires and interests of other countries, including of its opponents and allies. Therefore, we should not expect a breakthrough after Mr. Blinken's visit to China," Mr. Belyaev added.
The expert also drew attention to China’s behaviour, “Chinese are demonstrating true diplomacy today, rather than an attempt to trample in a china shop like an elephant and to say that they are the leaders. The Chinese leadership demonstrates Eastern restraint, but at the same time reacts very quickly and clearly to any attitude which is incorrect in their opinion. The fact that the American President was reined literally immediately after his stupid statements is an indicator that China is not afraid of the United States, is ready to defend its national interests. China is very closely monitoring what is happening around, but does not stoop to direct insults that we see on the part of the West.”
