Deputy Head of Belarus’ President Administration: future should be built on traditions laid down by victorious peoples

Protection of the historical memory and building of the future on the common historical memory of Russia and Belarus are very important – as noted by the Deputy Head of Belarus’ President Administration, Igor Lutsky

“Scientists of Russia and Belarus, the presidential administrations work quite closely on this topic. In Belarus, the Historical Policy Council under the President Administration was established in 2022 following an order of the Head of State. Until recently, we have not made decisions of the kind, since history has somehow been interpreted in a way convenient for everyone. However, the aggravation of the geopolitical situation has revealed the acute moments and approaches of our neighbours. Therefore, it is important not only to convey this to our young people, but also to pay more attention to the media working in Belarus and Russia – especially, with regard to the interpretation of some historical events,” Mr. Lutsky said.

The Deputy Head of Belarus’ President Administration believes it is also necessary to carefully study the publishing projects being implemented on the territory of the two countries. He explained, “Of course, now we are following this sphere very closely, but let me say that, before certain events, the interpretation – including of the Great Patriotic War theme – was quite peculiar, in my opinion. It seems to me that the Great Patriotic War is the key point for understanding and comprehending the future of our peoples. With this in view, I think we should start building our future based on the traditions laid down by our warriors, our victors.”
