Brazil to resume visa requirements for tourists from US, Australia, Canada and Japan

The Brazilian government plans to cancel a decision that previously allowed tourists from Australia, Canada, the United States and Japan to visit the country without visas, G1 reports

It is noted that the Brazilian government will soon begin notifying the embassies of these four countries about the decision. However, there is no exact date for the introduction of visa requirements yet.

In 2019, Brazil unilaterally allowed tourists from Australia, Canada, the United States and Japan to enter its territory without a visa. At the same time, President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva’s administration has concluded that this measure has not resulted in a significant increase in the tourist flow. Therefore, the principle of reciprocity has been decided to be resumed.
