Belarus’ State Border Committee: Latvian security forces give psychotropics to refugees

The State Border Committee has posted information in its official Telegram channel that Latvian security forces give psychotropic substances to refugees

On June 7th, Belarusian border guards detained two foreigners in the Braslav District’s restricted border security zone. The Afghani refugees said that Latvian security forces had forced them to violate the Belarusian border and even brought them to the site.

During a fact-finding procedure, two blisters with 16 tablets with a particularly dangerous psychotropic substance – Tramadol – were found. The refugees claimed the drug had been given to them by Latvia’s military.

As reported, the foreigners are detained to clarify the circumstances of the incident.

Belarus’ State Border Committee believes giving psychotropic substances to refugees can become a dangerous trend – to be used by the neighbouring side to organise provocations at the border.
