Matthew Saltmarsh noted that a series of polls of refugees highlighted the problems faced by Ukrainians. According to the survey, the majority hopes to return to Ukraine one day, but only 14 percent plan to do so in the coming months. Security issues remain of paramount importance, as well as access to basic services, housing and livelihoods, Saltmarsh said.

He added that most refugees plan to remain in their current host country, where they require continued support from host governments and the international community to meet their basic needs.
