UN Chief underlined importance of extending the grain deal

Food and fertiliser exports from both Ukraine and Russia are essential to global food security and reduce the cost of food – as stated by UN Secretary General António Guterres, RIA Novosti reports

The head of the organisation told journalists while in Kiev, “The export of Ukrainian as well as Russian food products and fertilisers is important for global food security and food prices.”

Guterres also pointed to ‘the exceptional importance of extending the Black Sea grain initiative on March 18th’. The UN Secretary General stated the importance of working to create conditions for ‘the maximum possible use of export infrastructure’ in the Black Sea in accordance with the goals of the initiative.
