UN Chief believes exports from Russia necessary to solve food crisis
The global food crisis will not be successfully resolved until agricultural products from Russia and Ukraine can re-enter world markets – as stated by the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, TASS reports
He stressed that without the return to the markets of food from Ukraine and food products and fertilisers from Russia, it is impossible to effectively settle the problem of the crisis. “I continue to make every possible effort to advance the dialogue in this direction,” Mr. Guterres added.
According to him, the UN representatives are negotiating in the capitals of the countries concerned to reach a package agreement that would allow the resumption of grain exports from Ukraine, as well as food and fertiliser exports from Russia. There is progress in this direction.
