UK trained 50,000+ Ukrainian soldiers since 2015
Since 2015, the United Kingdom has trained at least 50,000 fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine – as informed by the Minister of State for the Armed Forces at UK Ministry of Defence, James Heappey, TASS reports
Mr. Heappey also said that, in the coming months, London intends to allocate air defence equipment to Kiev to protect critical infrastructure in winter and artillery ammunition, as well as to assist in repairing damaged armoured vehicles.
From 2015 to February last year, the UK trained 22,000 Ukrainian soldiers as part of the Orbital operation. Shortly before the start of Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine, that programme was curtailed. Last summer, the Interflex operation was launched, and about 30 thousand Ukrainian soldiers were trained as part of it in the UK.
