The Guardian: survey shows citizens of several European countries doubt their armies’ strength

According to The Guardian, citing data from a survey conducted by YouGov, residents of Germany, Italy, Spain and Britain are not sure that their armed forces will be able to protect their countries if WWIII breaks out. Meanwhile, the majority of US citizens believe in their army, RIA Novosti reports.

As noted, the number of those who lack confidence in their country’s army was 74 percent in Germany, 68 percent in Italy, 54 percent in Spain and 52 percent in the UK.

In France, those who are confident and those who are not are almost evenly divided: 44 percent versus 43 percent.

The number of Americans who have no doubts about their country’s army in case of a new international conflict was 71 percent.
