Damascus demands an end to the illegal US military presence on Syrian territory, holding the American administration accountable for the damage caused to the oil and gas sector and obliging it to pay compensation for stolen oil resources, according to a document published by SANA news agency.

The Foreign Ministry provides data according to which direct losses in the country’s oil sector as a result of US criminal actions are estimated at $27.5bn.

“Syria holds the United States and its allies responsible for the deterioration of the economic and humanitarian situation,” the Foreign Ministry’s message reads. “The plunder of its natural resources exacerbates the consequences of illegal unilateral sanctions that Syrian citizens are suffering from.”

Earlier, the SANA agency reported that American occupation forces transported a new large shipment of Syrian oil to Iraqi territory. According to it, a convoy of 90 oil tankers proceeded under heavy security to the neighbouring country through the Al Mahmudiyah checkpoint.
