UN allocated $5.5m to Zambia to help overcome effects of drought
The United Nations has announced $5.5m in aid for Zambia to cope with the effects of an unprecedented drought, TASS reports
Xinhua news agency, citing data from the UN office in Lusaka, reported that the allocated funds will be used to provide food aid, provide safe drinking water to the population and organise medical services in areas affected by drought.
Zambia declared a national disaster in February 2024 due to drought, which affected 84 of the 116 districts in the country.
