Swiss Ambassador to Belarus: we can’t do without dialogue

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Switzerland to Belarus, Christine Honegger Zolotukhin, stated this at a meeting with the Chairperson of the Council of the Republic, Natalya Kochanova

The foreign diplomat addressed the Speaker of the Upper House of the Belarusian Parliament with the following words, “I am very glad to be here. I came here more than a month ago and set myself the task of communicating as much as possible, meeting completely different people, and listening to them in order to form a multifaceted picture. I have been studying your country from Switzerland for a relatively long time. From a distance, however, everything looks quite different. Now I want to find topics that are interesting for both you and us, on which we can work. Of course, I would be interested to hear from you in detail regarding possible issues that are of interest to us. How can we influence something? Where are our efforts welcome, where are they less? It seems to me that it would be very good if we could find out such things in a dialogue. We can’t do without a dialogue, especially since the situation in the region is complicated, it probably worries us all.”
