Sputnik V full-cycle production planned in Belarus

In Belarus, full-cycle production of the Sputnik V vaccine is planned – as reported by Belmedpreparaty General Director, Sergei Belyayev

“Sputnik V full-cycle production envisages biological production of substances of the active component and production of a finished form in ampoules or vials,” Mr. Belyayev said, adding that construction and installation works of the first stage are close to completion. “Equipment qualification is already underway, while the system is being cleaned. At the first stage, an active component will be produced here. It will be further bottled at the existing facilities of Belmedpreparaty,” he noted.

According to Mr. Belyayev, the investment project is worth more than $56m. “The payback period will make about 3-4 years – depending on the market situation. I hope that, in 2022-2023, we will be able to produce up to 10m doses of the vaccine. We have also calculated export markets.”
