Shpakovsky about West’s double standards on Ukraine crisis

Cases have already been opened in Western countries against those who publish the letter Z in support of the Russian army, but at the same time the society is blind towards manifestations of Nazism in Ukraine – as stated by political analyst Aleksandr Shpakovsky during his talk with Alfa Radio

According to programme host Vadim Shepet, the police and the prosecutor’s office of several German states are investigating more than 140 cases over support for Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine. Most of the open cases involve the use of the letter Z, which has become the symbol of support for Russia’s special operation. The image of this letter in public places falls under the article of the Criminal Code of the Federal Republic of Germany, which envisages a fine and imprisonment for up to three years. Some German regions do not keep such statistics, but they assure that they are taking measures against those who are suspected of such ‘offences’.

“In Germany, there is a sufficient number of not only Russian-speaking compatriots – those people who for various reasons emigrated from the countries of the former USSR. According to different estimates, these are several million people. Naturally, among them there are many people who hold alternative views, not those that are accepted in Western countries, including regarding the Russian special operation in Ukraine,” explained Mr. Shpakovsky. “There are also many Germans who believe that this special operation is fair, it is not directed against the Ukrainian people and does not provide for the occupation of the territories of this country. This is rather about Russia’s actions aimed at ensuring its own security, as well as the security of our country from the Ukrainian regime, which has become clearly militaristic in its nature in recent years.”

The political expert said that ‘the evidence of the manifestations of Nazism in Ukraine is unmeasured’, but this is ignored in the West, including in Germany.

“Do you remember how German Chancellor Olaf Scholz laughed at the definition of the genocide of the people of Donbass? However, I personally witnessed a photo exhibition on Arbat Street, where portraits of children from Donetsk and Luhansk were demonstrated; they have been living in a military environment for the last eight years, and many of them even distinguish the sounds of ammunition. I would take Mr. Scholz through this exhibition and would even familiarise him with the cases of several hundred children killed in Donbass as a result of the use of rocket weapons, aviation, mortars, etc. All this took place over 8 years, but the so-called civilised world preferred not to notice this phenomenon,” reminded the expert.
