Shagoiko: last year, exports of agricultural raw materials and food products rose by 25% to reach $8.3bn

Last year, the situation on the international food market was favourable for Belarus, with prices increasing on average by more than 30 percent for dairy products and almost the same for meat products – as noted by Belarus’ Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Vadim Shagoiko

As a result, according to him, over the past year, supplies of agricultural raw materials and food products abroad increased by a quarter compared to 2021 and reached $8.3bn, accounting for over 20 percent in the country’s total exports.

Belarusian products are exported to 100+ countries of the world. Meanwhile, the premium market and the main strategic partner of our country has been and is the Russian Federation, where about 70 percent of agricultural raw materials and food are supplied.

The volume of deliveries also increased. At the same time, their structure has changed towards an increase in export sales of high-margin products. Belarus began to sell more sausages, canned meat and processed products. The supply of meat in the form of carcasses and half carcasses has slightly decreased, but we won here due to rising prices.

The situation is similar in the dairy sector. Export of butter and cheese have increased significantly but decreased for milk, cream and sour cream in consumer packaging, which initially had a lower margin.
