Rybakov: Belarus open to return of relations with all countries, but not in exchange for national interests

The Republic of Belarus has never been the initiator of limiting co-operation with the US and the EU. In violation of all norms of international law, political, trade, financial and other sanctions have been imposed on our country, which limit the development opportunities of ordinary people – as stated by Permanent Representative of Belarus to the UN Valentin Rybakov at a meeting of the UN Security Council.

“Today we are witnessing a global political, social and economic transformation: the transition to a multipolar world order. It is not easy to part with the assigned privileges, accepting the existing realities. In the struggle to maintain a unipolar world order and a monopoly on its arrangement, the entire available arsenal of political, economic and power tools is used: sanctions, incitement of political, social, ethnic, religious, linguistic and cultural hatred, deliberate destabilisation of the security situation in entire regions. Unilateral coercive measures against more than three dozen sovereign states, applied in violation of all norms of international law, have a negative impact on the quality of life of more than a third of humanity,” the Belarusian diplomat noted.

The Belarusian representative underlined that sanctions are a modern form of neo-colonialism, “Sanctions have actually become a daily tool of Washington and its satellites to put pressure on objectionable countries that have their own opinion. Despite unprecedented external pressure, Belarus is open to a return to normal relations with all countries and in all areas, but not in exchange for our national interests and values.”
