Russian Defence Ministry received documents on US research of coronaviruses in 2016-2020

The Defence Ministry of the Russian Federation has received documents indicating that the United States conducted research of coronaviruses in the period from 2016 to 2020 – as announced by the Chief of Nuclear, Chemical, and Biological Protection Troops of the Russian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, TASS reports

"By a strange coincidence, the pandemic was preceded by a number of research projects on the systematic study of coronaviruses, which were funded by the American administration. The reporting documents available to us on the Assessing Risk of Emerging Infections from Insectivorous Bats in Ukraine and Georgia project indicate that coronavirus studies were conducted in the period from 2016 to 2020. The report notes that ‘during the work in Ukraine, bats were identified that migrate up to 800km deep into countries such as Hungary and Russia’," Mr. Kirillov said.

According to the official, it is also doubtful that bioinformatics specialists participated in the research, whose duties included editing and combining the genomes of identified pathogens – that is, research traditionally associated with enhancing the functions of dangerous viruses. "We have repeatedly noted that the artificial origin of COVID-19 is evidenced by the variability of genovariants uncharacteristic for most coronaviruses, significant differences in mortality and contagiousness, uneven geographical distribution, as well as the unpredictable nature of the epidemic process as a whole," he stressed.

Mr. Kirillov added that the high degree of preparedness of American manufacturers of mRNA vaccines for a pandemic ‘suggests collusion between various US government agencies and the so-called Big Pharma’. “The spread of the new coronavirus infection has led to a significant increase in the profits of biotech corporations due to the creation of vaccines and medicines against coronavirus, as well as to the increased dependence of developing countries on the United States and the creation of conditions for their further implementation of dual-use programmes,” he said.

In addition, Mr. Kirillov recalled that an investigation is currently underway in the United States into the origin of the COVID-19 pandemic. "A special subcommittee has been created in the US Congress for this purpose. Due to the involvement of the American company Eco-Health Alliance in large-scale experiments with coronaviruses, as well as the possible influence of the Central Intelligence Agency on the course of the expert investigation, on September 12th, 2023, lawmakers publicly demanded detailed materials from CIA Head William Burns for the work of the subcommittee," he noted.
