Russia came ahead of aggression of Kiev’s regime

This opinion was voiced by the Chairman of the Republican Znanie Belarusian Society, Vadim Gigin, in his talk with Alfa Radio when commenting on Russia’s special operation in Ukraine

Programme host Vadim Shepet recalled a statement made by the Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic, Denis Pushilin, that the Ukrainian army had been preparing an attack on Russia and Belarus in early March. Mr. Gigin believes such an attack was really planned.

“This should no longer be in doubt. In a publication of Novaya Gazeta, the former governor of the Kherson Region analyses why [the Russian Armed Forces] occupied Kherson and the entire region so quickly. He wonders why the minefields have been cleared on the territory of the region. That was because an attack was planned. The first sign of an impending attack is when the army makes paths for its troops to pass through its own minefields," Mr. Gigin noted.

The expert recalled a hysteria observed in the West and Ukraine after the Allied Resolve 2022 joint exercises with Russia had been announced. In January-February, there were statements that Belarus and Russia were preparing to attack.

“However, it was the West that wanted to drag Russia into a war. They are now trying to play out their scenario with all sorts of arguments. I think, if Russia failed, then Ukraine would have been preparing an attack – including with focus on military infrastructure facilities in the Gomel Region. We all know that divisions were redeployed closer to the border. There is no doubt that Russia came ahead of the aggression of Kiev’s regime," Mr. Gigin concluded.
