Putin: our countries are closest allies and strategic partners

Russia and Belarus are the closest allies and strategic partners, co-operation between which is developing on the principles of mutual respect and consideration of each other’s interests – as stated by President of Russia Vladimir Putin after the talks with the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, held in Minsk

The President of Russia noted, “The main issues of Russian-Belarusian relations in economy, cultural and humanitarian sphere, security and defence were considered in a businesslike and constructive manner. Of course, the discussions took place taking into account the situation in the world, which is developing in general and in our region in particular.”

At the same time, Vladimir Putin stressed, “Our countries are the closest allies and strategic partners, co-operation between which is developing on the principles of mutual respect and consideration of each other’s interests. We share common history, being united by common spiritual values, family and kinship ties that have developed between many Russians and Belarusians. Russia and Belarus are building the Union State together, consistently deepening economic integration, which is aimed at ensuring sustainable economic growth and improving the living standards of citizens.”
