Poland conducting tank firing 100km from Russia’s border

The Polish army is conducting live firing using K2 tanks purchased from South Korea at the Bemowo Piskie training area located about 100km from the border with the Kaliningrad Region of the Russian Federation, TASS reports

The Polish Defence Ministry reported on its X account, “K2 tanks from the 20th Mechanised Brigade Bartoszycka came into operation at the Bemowo Piskie Bemovo-Piske training area, and the exercises are in full swing.” The post is accompanied by live firing photos.

Since the beginning of 2024, Poland has received 18 South Korean K2 Black Panther tanks. In 2022, the country signed contracts with the Republic of Korea for the purchase of 980 such vehicles, as well as 648 K9 Thunder self-propelled howitzers, 48 FA-50 light combat aircraft and 288 K239 Chunmoo multiple launch rocket systems worth $12.4bn.
