“Indeed, we see that these discussions are either codified or, on the contrary, fade away. But the topic of illegal seizure of our various assets is constantly on the agenda in both Europe and America. This topic is potentially unacceptable for us. Moreover, it is potentially extremely dangerous for the global financial system, because if such plans are implemented, it will be a very serious blow to the entire co-ordinate system of the international financial system,” said the Kremlin spekesperson.

He underlined that ‘those who are trying to initiate this, and those who will implement it, must understand that the Russian Federation will never leave those who did this alone’. “It will constantly exercise its right to legal challenge: international, national and otherwise,” added Dmitry Peskov.

According to him, Europe and the US are well aware that the illegal seizure of Russian assets ‘will have legal consequences for those who initiated and implemented it’. “If someone confiscates something from us, we’ll see what we can confiscate in response. And if this something is found, we will, naturally, do it immediately,” concluded the press secretary of the Russian President.

Earlier, US National Security Council Co-ordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby said that the United States is discussing with partners the possible role of Russia in the restoration of Ukraine. According to him, ‘it’s too early to talk’ about the possibility of using frozen Russian assets for these purposes.
