Opinion: Lukashenko gave shake to two-faced politickers

In matters of international relations, Belarus traditionally stands for non-interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states and mutually beneficial co-operation – as noted by Sergei Klishevich, a member of the Standing Committee of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly on Education, Culture and Science, while commenting on the important statements made by the President of Belarus during his recent working trip to the Minsk Region

“This applies to all states without exception. At the same time, taking into account the practice of communicating and working with some Western states, we have developed a clear understanding based on the facts that many Western politicians are under the influence of the United States, which means that at any time they can stop fulfilling agreements or (even worse) start acting in the opposite direction. In this regard, the relationship with the EU can be built solely on the basis of consistent implementation of the agreements reached, confirmed solely by facts,” the MP said.

Moreover, as noted by Mr. Klishevich, it is necessary to take into account the geopolitical struggle, the epicentre of which has found its place in Eastern Europe. “In the conditions of confrontation and constant attempts to influence Belarus in order to draw it into the sphere of interests of the West with all possible consequences, their behaviour and actions can be diametrically opposed – after all, as they say, the winner is always right,” he said.

It is also necessary to take into account the factor of public opinion, which in many European countries is absolutely against the creation of artificial barriers and sanctions policy against Belarus to the detriment of the interests of its population. Mr. Klishevich explained, “The Polish referendum, which – among other issues – had the one proposing the construction of a fence on the border with Belarus, and its results are a vivid example of this. At the same time, Poles are constantly being bombarded with information about the allegedly aggressive and unfriendly policy of Belarus towards its western neighbour. The Belarusian President's answer to the question about the prospects of communication with Western politicians is another confirmation of the open and peaceful policy of Belarus. And at the same time, it is another blow to the two-faced politickers who accuse the republic of unwillingness to co-operate in the name of peace and improving the well-being of our peoples. We can make a proposal, but the choice will be made either by politicians who will start taking concrete steps to fulfil the will of their peoples, or by the peoples themselves, tired of constant lies and deterioration of their standard of living in the name of imaginary overseas ideals and delusional desires of creeping politicians.”
