MP: Belarus ready to show Brazil potash infrastructure and discuss co-operation issues

Belarus is ready to welcome a delegation of Brazilian officials and business representatives to show them the country’s potash infrastructure and discuss topical issues of co-operation – as noted by the Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus, Valery Mitskevich, on meeting the Secretary for International Relations of the Workers' Party of Brazil, Romenio Pereira, in Minsk

“We are confident that the competitive environment of fertiliser producers in the Brazilian market with the participation of Belarusian proposals will make the price fairer, and Brazilian agricultural products more accessible to all countries of the world. Businessmen showed great interest in the project of joint production of Belarusian small tractors for the needs of Brazilian farms. As part of the new agricultural policy of Brazilian President Lula da Silva focused on small farms, Belarus can offer effective solutions suitable for family farms: economic accessibility of tractors, ease of operation, the possibility of repair and maintenance in the field,” Mr. Mitskevich said.

The MP stressed that Belarus has the necessary technologies and production resources to expand its participation and join Brazilian state programmes to provide small tractors to private farmers and family farms, taking into account the requirements of Brazilian legislation on production localisation (60 percent). He added that it is actually needed now to identify a number of promising, beneficial projects for both sides, which could become a kind of locomotive for the development of relations.

“We can talk about the creation of a machine-building cluster in Brazil, together with Brazilian companies. It will focus on the production of public electric vehicles, helicopter-type unmanned aerial vehicles, dump trucks, tractors and agricultural machinery using intelligent point farming technology. Cultural and humanitarian exchanges should become an important factor of rapprochement. We have a lot to offer each other in such areas as education, medicine, sports and tourism. I would also like to emphasise that Minsk is interested in increasing interaction with Brazil within the framework of international organisations: in particular, in strengthening co-operation in the Latin American Parliament. We have been participating in its work as an observer since 2016,” Mr. Mitskevich added.
