Lukashenko supported projects on construction of new fish breeding complexes in Mogilev Region
New complexes for the production of trout caviar and valuable fish species will be built in the Mogilev Region, and President Aleksandr Lukashenko has been reported on the details of these plans during his today’s trip to the Belynichi District, BelTA reports
Aleksandr Lukashenko visited the Vishov facility breeding valuable fish species at the Lokhva trout farm. The President was informed on the prospects for the fish farming industry development in the Mogilev Region, as well as the measures taken to increase the production of valuable fish species. The Head of State then got acquainted with the technology of fish breeding.
Aleksandr Lukashenko was informed that a complex is planned for construction in the Krasnopolye District, near the Paluzh River, to produce one thousand tonnes of trout per year. The preliminary cost of the project is about Br40m. Another fish-breeding complex (worth almost Br35m) for the production of fertilised caviar of rainbow trout will be built in Cherikov. "Let's implement these two projects," the President said.
Visiting the Belarusian National Biotechnology Corporation last autumn, the Head of State instructed the governors to think over new steps in the development of fish farming, taking into account the availability of modern compound feeds. Aleksandr Lukashenko added that valuable fish species should be in focus as well. One of the farms in the country has already mastered the production of black caviar, which wins blind tastings and is highly ranked by specialists.
"If we can do this, and if this business is of good profitability, marginality, then let’s build more [facilities],” the Head of State said. “Gather and think of what fish species we can breed here [in Belarus]. We have fish feed.”
The 2021-2025 Agrarian Business state programme envisages an almost 2-fold increase in the production of valuable fish species – salmon and sturgeon –throughout the country.
