Level of Belarus’ self-sufficiency with dairy products reached 267 percent

It is not the first year that Belarus has been among the top five global leading exporters of dairy products, if not to take into account internal trade between the EU countries. Moreover, as stated by the Agriculture and Food Ministry, Belarusian manufacturers intend not only to maintain these positions, but also to conquer new markets

The focus is on the huge Chinese market and the countries of the far arc. Measures are being taken to ensure that Belarusian dairy products confidently gain positions on the African continent, in the United Arab Emirates, Vietnam and a number of other countries. There is a potential for this.

“The Republic of Belarus fully meets the demand of the domestic market for dairy products through its own production,” Maria Klimova, the Deputy Head of the Meat and Dairy Industry Department at the Agriculture and Food Ministry. “The level of self-sufficiency in dairy products has reached 267 percent, which indicates the possibility of their sales abroad without any harm for the country's food independence. Meanwhile, in the European Union, the level of self-sufficiency in milk and dairy products stands at 117.6 percent. In Belarus, milk production reached 106 percent in January-November 2023 against the same period in 2022.”
