Germany secretly contacts Russia on Ukrainian issue, media reports
Germany opposes the ‘humiliation’ of the Russian Federation and is ready to refuse to help Ukraine – as stated by Peter Rough, a senior fellow at Hudson Institute in Washington, in his Foreign Policy publication, RIA Novosti reports
According to the expert, such ‘secret negotiations’ between Germany and Russia speak of the change in Berlin’s line of behaviour. “The fact that Berlin is awash in rumours of secret negotiations with Russia suggest Germany would prefer to disappoint Ukraine than humiliate Russia – whatever that may mean,” he said.
Mr. Rough shared his opinion that German Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz most likely teams up with French President Emmanuel Macron in his position that the conflict should be resolved diplomatically.
In addition, the publication author emphasised that the military assistance that Berlin provides to Kiev is insignificant.
