Germany said Ukraine will have to put up with loss of territories in the event of truce with Russia

Michael Kretschmer, the Minister-President of the Free State of Saxony, said the Ukrainian government would probably have to put up with the loss of part of the country’s territory in the event of a truce, TASS reports

Mr. Kretschmer noted that, in the event of a ceasefire, Ukraine will first have to accept the fact that some territories will be temporarily inaccessible to the country. According to him, as in other major conflicts, it will ‘take time’ to find a final solution to the Ukrainian issue.

The politician also called on the German leadership to take diplomatic initiatives on Ukraine.

Earlier, Bloomberg reported an increasing number of people in Ukraine ‘are coming to the idea that territorial concessions to Russia may become an inevitable price for peace’, although their share is still a minority in Ukrainian society.
