The forum included panel discussions on various aspects of co-operation: trade relations, digital economy, investments. The delegation of the State Control Committee of Belarus participated in the Clean Silk Road thematic forum, where representatives from over 30 countries and international organisations discussed issues of combating corruption.

Vasily Gerasimov reported on progress and contribution to the fight against corruption, noting that corruption is a major socio-political problem in the world that threatens the socio-economic, political and legal foundations of statehood, law and order.

The Chairman of the State Control Committee noted that the fight against corruption has been identified as one of Belarus’ national priorities. “Almost all government bodies take part in this work. An effective legislative framework has been formed and the necessary institutional mechanisms to combat corruption have been created. Close attention is paid to the prevention of corruption offenses and manifestations. Constant work is being done to raise the level of legal consciousness and create intolerance in society towards this kind of offense,” said Vasily Gerasimov.

He expressed confidence that with Belarus’ accession to the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation, new opportunities will be opened to strengthen interaction in the sphere of suppressing corruption crimes.

Earlier, anti-corruption issues were discussed during a working meeting between the Chairman of the State Control Committee of Belarus and the leadership of China’s State Control Committee. Moreover, a working meeting was also held between Vasily Gerasimov and the Auditor General of the National Audit Office of China, Hou Kai, at which issues of collaboration between the supreme financial control bodies of the two countries were discussed.
