Foreign Ministry commented on situation with Belarusian truckers in Ukraine

Three truckers from Belarus still stay in Ukraine, but they are safe as are far from the places of fighting – as informed by the press secretary of Belarus’ Foreign Ministry, Anatoly Glaz, in his talk with Belarus 1 TV channel

According to the Foreign Ministry, 290 Belarusian truck drivers were on the territory of Ukraine at the time of the start of Russia's special military operation.

“At the moment, there are three truckers there – staying with their relatives away from the fighting. They do not want to leave the territory of Ukraine yet since it is more dangerous to move around than to remain in one place. Another reason why they are not considering leaving now is the inability to drive their vehicles. They may have hidden their cars with relatives. In fact, there was a robbery in relation to their cargo, no one provided any documents on legal confiscation. For some, these are personal vehicles that they have used for work for decades. Importantly, their life is saved. All interested structures helped organise the evacuation so that our guys would leave Ukraine and arrive in Belarus. There are examples of caring Belarusians who also helped," Mr. Glaz said.

The press secretary added that it is possible to make claims to the government or to the authorities, but it is unacceptable to direct negative to truckers, peaceful drivers. In his opinion, this is a crossing of certain lines that incites hatred.

"We will never understand it," Mr. Glaz stressed.
