Expert on Kiev's terrorist strikes: they want a spectacle, it’ll bring no success

Kiev's terrorist strikes on the Russian territory are political PR stunts that will bring no long-term success to Ukraine — as stated by Vadim Gigin, the Director General of the National Library of Belarus, a member of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly, in his talk with Alfa Radio

When commenting on the goals of Kiev’s terrorist strikes, Vadim Gigin noted, “Of course, there’s a target like peace talks, but I wouldn’t limit everything to just that. Kiev’s actions are suicidal venture. They think they are succeeding, celebrating, cheering, yelling but they are not achieving the desired effect. They moved to so-called asymmetric warfare. Somehow we don't hear that much about their drone line concept voiced in February. On the line of contact, their active defence strategy is falling apart in front of us, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are retreating along the entire front line — they can no longer organise a drone line. So, they move to this asymmetric warfare. In fact, they have used the elements of it before, now it is their main course. Being defeated on the battlefield, they moved to terrorism, conducting individual attacks and terrorist attacks on infrastructure facilities, and they will continue to do so.”

He emphasised that Kiev strikes not only military facilities, “They strike targets that burn quickly. It's hardly the actual military effect that they're after. For example, they attacked aircraft — it was a political PR stunt, it had no effect on the front at all, just like strikes on oil depots. But they need to create the impression that they can do something, so they launch these strikes. The Crimean Bridge, the railway and burning petrol stations — they need to maintain this image."

Vadim Gigin noted that this venture will bring no long-term success to Ukraine, “But it once again highlights the terror nature of the Kiev regime. Russian President Vladimir Putin has made quite a tough statement. As I understand from Donald Trump's words, the presidents of Russia and the US have had a tough conversation. I suppose Russia has the necessary potential and opportunity to strategically defeat the Kiev regime. The President of Belarus has long warned us about it. He has warned Kiev that conditions would get tougher later if it refused to sign the peace agreements. The current  conditions are much harsher than those discussed in March 2022, and the next ones will be even harsher.”
