Expert explained how Polish propaganda trying to demonise Belarus
Belarus is always doing everything possible to save those refugees whom the security forces of neighbouring states are forcing into its territory. Despite this, Poland is trying to demonise Belarus in the consciousness of its citizens. A political observer at the Belarusian TV and Radio Company, Maria Petrashko, commented on the situation in her talk with Alfa Radio.
The security forces of Belarus’ neighbouring countries continue to mistreat refugees, also making attempts to blame the republic – which is actually doing everything possible to save the foreigners’ lives – for cruelty towards migrants.
“They permanently accuse us, although we have all the evidence that this is done not by the Belarusian side. We, on the contrary, help in every way, saving this people – and these actions are registered. It is hardly possible to argue the facts. Polish propaganda is generally working in every possible way precisely towards the demonization of the Republic of Belarus – speaking of the alleged trafficking of children and beating of migrants. Moreover, according to their version, we have been almost starving here for a long time," Ms. Petrashko said.
The expert emphasised the difference between the Anglo-Saxon way of thinking and the Slavic one, “We give food, water and medical care here. There are a lot of facts, statistics of how many refugees we have saved, how many people have received our assistance. In turn, Poles – though being also Slavs (however, they are renouncing this fact) – are acting in the best traditions of the Anglo-Saxons. We know how Americans behave when, for example, migrants sail in front of their eyes: they even shoot through their rubber boats, do not arrest these people, do not deport them, but watch how sharks eat these unfortunate refugees. True, there are shots featuring how some people were rescued, but there are also many lives that had not been saved, or no attempts were made to save them.”
Ms. Petrashko added that the EU authorities themselves indicated word of mouth among the reasons for the increase in migration: the refugees who had come to the European Union told others how well they live now. “It was partly true. It was their own fault that they had created such conditions for these people. For some reason, they acted very short-sighted, they paid allowances to everyone, hoping for something incomprehensible. Actually, the word of mouth exists – so it’d be better to go to these countries and tell people there that they would have no good in Europe if they do not work hard. They did nothing of the kind. They [in the EU] expected that cheap labour force would come to them, but it did not work out. That was a big miscalculation. As for Poland, its authorities understand that no one stays in their country – not to mention the Baltic States, which population is declining. Everything is dying out there, no migrants will definitely go there, they are not stupid people. They are all going to France and Germany, to their communities and relatives. Therefore, on the part of Poles, this is all great hypocrisy and provocations against Belarus," Ms. Petrashko summed up.
