Expert explained how information agenda is being formed in the West

Western media use various tools that help manipulate public opinion, and Aleksei Avdonin, an analyst at the Belarusian Institute for Strategic Studies, explained how the information agenda is formed there

According to the expert, the entire media field – which is controlled by political elites of the collective West – is under total control by key media corporations, “The latter are basically known. Nothing has changed in the last 100-150 years. CNN, BBC, Reuters, Associated Press are like dinosaurs of this media space. They receive orders from the corporate elites of Europe, the United States and replicate the agenda to all the smaller ones.”

At the same time, all these media continue to assert that they are independent. “In reality, there is no independence. The elites of media corporations gather and determine the media content for a particular event. It is clear that there are media meters, which distinctly record the social response to certain events and understand how to influence their society," the expert explained.

According to Mr. Avdonin, the so-called funnel is the classic tool used to manage Western society, “Look at how the topic of the war in Ukraine is being discussed. It is always with a certain spirit of freedom, liberation, independence, great struggle. This is called familiarisation with a great idea in the applied psychology of mass management. Ordinary people want to be part of this great idea.”
