Expert: EU crisis gaining momentum

The European Union is sliding into a very deep economic and financial crisis – as stated by Aleksei Avdonin, an expert at the Belarusian Institute for Strategic Studies, in his talk with the STV TV channel

The far-right Freedom Party (PVV), led by Geert Wilders who opposed anti-Russian sanctions and arms supplies to Ukraine, has won the parliamentary elections in the Netherlands recently, and Mr. Avdonin commented, “We know perfectly well from history and political science when extreme right-wing parties appear, and who finances them. They always emerge only when a particular country starts facing a sharp deterioration in its socio-economic conditions. Extreme parties are the best tool of those in power, those who manage the capital and own corporations, and their main goal is to suppress any social protests. This is a classic of political science.”

According to the expert, a similar situation is now observed. “European countries, as well as those who own large banks and corporations, are well aware of where Europe is slipping into. It is sliding into a very deep economic and financial crisis. It is clear that this crisis was imposed by the Anglo-Saxons, but the situation is as it is. There is an economic crisis, and a strong social unrest is likely in the near future – not on a political basis and not because of migrants, but because there is simply nothing to eat and people start suffering from frosts. It is only possible to suppress these uprisings if ultra-right forces are in power," Mr. Avdonin said.
