Deputy: West doing everything to preserve a unipolar world, where it can command
The West wants Belarus to degrade and for us to begin to fulfil the tasks of the United States – as noted by Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee on National Security of the House of Representatives Aleksandr Markevich in his talk with SB TV
Commenting on the current situation around Belarus, the deputy noted that the dangers are not decreasing.
“What does the collective West want? They want us to become different, like them. They want us not to defend our national interests, but simply to give in US pressure and carry out its tasks. They want to have a base in Belarus against the Russian Federation. They want us not to develop our economy, not to be engaged with young people, but to degrade the way some of our neighbours do,” Aleksandr Markevich shared his opinion.
According to him, today this primarily refers to the military-political dangers.
“We see the militarisation of Latvia, Lithuania, and especially Poland. We see what events in Ukraine the Western policy led to. They are doing everything to preserve a unipolar world, where the collective West will command,” the deputy added.
In this regard, he recalled that Belarus, in alliance with Russia, is strengthening its defence capability.
“Lately it has become clear that we have a single defence space. Our military doctrines are interconnected, since the sources of danger and threats are the same, a joint regional group of troops, a unified air defence system, an almost common border security system,” Aleksandr Markevich underlined.
