Decree on Ukrainian citizens’ stay in Belarus ready in new edition

On September 14th, President Aleksandr Lukashenko signed Decree No. 326. In line with the document, Decree No. 420 as of August 30th, 2014 On Stay of Ukrainian Citizens in the Republic of Belarus is available in a new edition – as reported by the Belarusian leader’s press service.

The document was elaborated to render assistance to citizens who arrive on the territory of Belarus from Ukraine and who have found themselves in a difficult life situation.

It stipulates that the mentioned category of persons has the rights on an equal basis with Belarusian citizens, namely: pre-school, general and special education; obtaining vocational, secondary special and higher education at the expense of the Republican and (or) local budgets or on payment terms; affordable medical care; child allowances and pensions.

In line with the decree, citizens of Ukraine are exempt from paying state duties for registering temporary stay in Belarus; issuing a temporary residence permit in Belarus; reviewing an application for a permanent residence permit in Belarus; issuing a biometric residence permit.

Employers of the Republic of Belarus who attract citizens of Ukraine to work are exempt from paying state duties for issuing a special permit for the right to engage in labour activity in Belarus; obtaining a permit to attract foreign labour to Belarus; a one-time extension of the permit to attract foreign labour to the country.

The document will contribute to integration of Ukrainian citizens into Belarusian society. It will also enable them to promptly regulate issues of their social support and work activities.
