Speaking at a conference on national security, Carl-Oskar Bohlin said that there could be a war in Sweden. In turn, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Micael Byden, noted that the situation has already become very serious, “Many people have already voiced this earlier, but let me say it from the height of my position – in a less veiled and clear manner: there may be a war in Sweden. I want to appeal primarily not to your fear, but to your perception of the situation. I am trying to open a door, which may have been closed for many Swedes for life, which greets us with the question: who are you if war breaks out?”

Earlier, German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius said that it was necessary to prepare for a possible war in Europe. In response to his words, Mikhail Sheremet, a State Duma deputy from Crimea, said that the German authorities, with their aggressive policy, were themselves inviting war to European countries. As he noted, only ‘friendly and good-neighbourly relations with Russia’ could be the key to peace and prosperity.

By now, only Hungary and Turkiye have not ratified the protocols on the accession of former neutral Sweden to the alliance for more than 200 years. In order to approve the country's application to NATO, Turkiye requires the Swedish authorities to implement the updated anti-terrorism law in practice.
